The tech engine giant Google rolled out support for its cutting-edge Augmented Reality (AR) effect tools for YouTube Stories. These tools will allow users to add glasses, 3D hats, animated masks, and more such items to their selfies.
The research engineers of Google Artificial Intelligence (AI), Artsiom Ablavatski and Ivan Grishchenko, wrote in a blog post on Friday, “ To make all this possible, we employ machine learning (ML) to infer approximate 3D surface geometry to enable visual effects and ML Pipeline for Selfie AR,”
The search giant believes proper anchoring of the virtual content to the real world is the toughest challenge — like accurately tracking dynamic surface geometries across smirks, smiles or frowns.
With better technology, the Augmented Reality effects will make YouTube stories to look more responsive and of course real. Google is working on new expertise to improve its accuracy and many other related things. Besides, the company is also adding AR features to its Maps to allow its users to discover their way with directions on reality checks.
Ablavatski and Grishchenko also said, “We are excited to share this new technology with creators, users and developers alike. In the future, we plan to broaden this technology to more Google products”.
If you want to create a story, open the YouTube mobile app, later tap on the video camera icon and choose”Create Story.
Social channels like Instagram and Facebook already support AR filters for Stories. All the platforms are doing well with this new feature and let its users add more effects to their stories.
