Spam messages, which encompass everything from unsolicited promotions to deceitful scams, have long been a nuisance on platforms like WhatsApp. With this latest update, WhatsApp underscores its dedication to user privacy and security while also aiming to streamline the messaging experience. The introduction of this feature empowers users by allowing them to swiftly identify and block spam messages without the need to unlock their devices or navigate within the app.
Upon receiving a notification for a spam message while their device is locked, users can now perform a long-press gesture to unveil a menu of options, including the immediate blocking of the sender. Additionally, WhatsApp has already implemented a precautionary measure by displaying a warning beneath the details of unknown numbers, providing users with the choice to add, block, or report and block these contacts.
